Compatibility with Corel PSP (PaintShop Pro) software.

Our website has been operating for over 10 years, and most of our customers have been with us since the beginning. The website evolves and updates, but not all customers have the latest versions of PCs or software.

Often, we receive emails from our clients complaining about PSD files. The issues vary – the file is too large, it doesn't open correctly, or doesn't open at all. Let's explore ways to prepare the correct archive. This article is essential for those working in the PSP Tubes (and Start) section.

How to Prepare the Archive Correctly?

1. Use small (lightweight) files.

Ensure that you've deleted unnecessary layers and elements that extend beyond the frame. In the video, you can see that pressing the C key (crop) reveals an extension of the background beyond the frame. In such cases, press the 'Delete Cropped Pixels' button on the top panel and apply this action by pressing Enter.

Also, all layers should not be included in the file before saving for upload, so that they do not overlap each other. Include only those that showcase the character in their maximum attire, hide the rest (via the eye icon).

2. Add PNG character illustrations in different color schemes to a separate folder inside the archive. You can name the folder 'PNG'. This option can boost your sales because even if a buyer has a weak PC, they can still use your illustration. Additionally, not all buyers have programs to open PSD files. It's important to mention the separate PNG folder in the description [The archive additionally contains PNG files], and you can also indicate it on the preview [PNG files are included].

3. Check compatibility with Corel PSP (PaintShop Pro) software.

The phrase "PaintShop Pro compatible PSD" on most cards indicates compatibility with this software. Please don't feel compelled to write this phrase on all your cards if you're not sure about file compatibility.

If the PSD file is not compatible with Corel, you need to add another file in the pspimages format (Corel format) to the archive. Here's how:

- You need to download the Corel PaintShop Pro program.

The following screenshots are from Corel PaintShop Pro 2022 Ultimate.

- Open the program, click on File - Open... In the opened window, select your PSD file, then click Open.

- After opening the file, make sure all layers are intact (sometimes there are errors opening the file, and then the entire source is shown as one layer).

- To save, click on File - Save as... In the opened window, click on the Options button. Set the version parameters by selecting "PSP 8 (or 9) compatible file" and click Ok.

- Create a separate folder in the same directory and name it "For Corel PSP8," then save your new file inside it.

СКРИН 5

- You can close the Corel program without saving the previous file.

Create an archive with the source PSD, the For Corel PSP8 folder, a folder with PNG illustrations, and the preview. Your customers will appreciate it!

*Note that not all artists have compatibility issues. If we receive complaints from customers about your archives, we'll ask you to follow these rules for adding the Corel format to your archives.
